Use of cookies
Cookies are small files placed on a visitor's device by a website. In doing so, they often use third-party applications on the website. As a result, many companies do not have a clear picture of the cookies their site places directly or indirectly on visitors. With the arrival of the AVG, this picture must be clear.
Different cookies
There are different types of cookies that are deployed. These can be divided into:
- Functional cookies
These are cookies needed to make the site work quickly and easily for a visitor. For functional cookies, you can think of a function that allows the customer to place a product in a shopping basket. Or that a visitor is recognised on a later visit and does not have to log in again. So these cookies ensure ease of use.
- Analytical cookies
These cookies provide insight into site usage. Which pages are visited? Do visitors come during the day or in the evenings? These are cookies that only provide general information. So no information about individual visitors.
- Tracking cookies
Tracking cookies are files designed to monitor visitors' browsing behaviour, now at an individual level. These cookies are used to show targeted offers or advertisements to the visitor. For example, did the visitor look at holidays in Greece? Then the travel provider can display targeted offers with similar trips in the following weeks.
